Bucket List African Safari and Deep-Sea Adventure for Alberto from the Philippines

While the Stuart family were enjoying their time with us in South Africa, we were also joined by Alberto from the Philippines for his long-awaited bucket list African hunting safari. Although he had never hunted before, Alberto arrived with a calm and focused attitude that immediately impressed PH Chris and the team.

It did not take long for Alberto to settle into the rhythm of hunting in the Eastern Cape bushveld. On the very first day, he successfully took three animals — two Impala and a Springbuck — showing excellent composure and shot placement from the outset. At 70 years old, Alberto proved that age is no barrier when determination and preparation meet opportunity.

As the safari progressed, Alberto continued to build on his success. His steady approach and willingness to listen carefully to guidance from PH Chris paid off time and time again. By the end of the hunt, Alberto had taken an impressive mix of both management and trophy animals, including Impala, Springbuck, Blesbuck, Ostrich, Warthog and a magnificent Kudu bull.

The Kudu hunt on the second last morning was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the safari. The old bull gave the hunters a proper run through thick bush and broken terrain before finally presenting an opportunity. Alberto remained calm under pressure and delivered well-placed lung shots to bring the impressive bull to bag after an exciting stalk.

Another memorable moment came during the hunt for a crafty old male Baboon. Alberto and the team waited patiently in an old shed for more than three hours as daylight slowly faded. Finally, at last light, the old male appeared. Alberto made a perfect front-on shot to anchor the baboon exactly where it stood, bringing an unforgettable hunt to a close.

No African safari is quite complete without time spent on the ocean, and Alberto also joined the crew aboard the famous “Black Fish” out of Port Alfred for a deep-sea fishing charter with our good friend Captain Darren. Conditions were near perfect, and the boys enjoyed excellent fishing throughout the day. Alberto landed a wide variety of species and thoroughly enjoyed another side of the African outdoor experience.

The fresh fish enjoyed around the table on the final evening was the perfect ending to a fantastic safari and fishing adventure. We said our goodbyes to Alberto as a new friend, and it was a privilege to share his first African hunting safari with him. We look forward to welcoming him back to South Africa again in the future.
